Turbo inline-6 sound for Tesla: Stage 3, 4 and 5
A tuned Japanese 3.0-litre turbo inline-6 in three build stages, from 650 to 1,100 hp: turbo whistle, lag, blow-off valve and flutter, in your Tesla's speakers with TesRev.
The tuner's straight six
The Japanese 3.0-litre turbo inline-6 of the 1990s became a legend among tuners: with a big single turbo, it can be pushed far beyond its factory power. An inline-6 fires evenly every 120 degrees, three times per turn, which gives it a smooth, mid-pitched voice; the turbo adds its own sounds on top.
TesRev models it in three common build stages. Boost, turbo whistle and turbo lag follow the revs and the load: press the accelerator at low revs and you hear the turbo spool up before the power arrives.

Which stage?
- Stage 3, about 650 hp: a 67 mm single turbo that comes in early, and a blow-off valve that hisses each time you lift off. The most usable of the three.
- Stage 4, about 850 hp: a 72 mm turbo without a blow-off valve, so the compressor flutters on lift-off, and a wastegate open to the air at full boost.
- Stage 5, about 1,100 hp: an 80 mm turbo with big lag, hot camshafts and an open downpipe. Rough at low revs, wild once the boost arrives.
