V10 engine sound for Tesla

The metallic howl of a 5.2-litre Italian V10 revving to 8,700 rpm, in your Tesla's speakers. Listen to the stock and Performante versions, then play them while you drive with TesRev.

The sound of an Italian V10

A V10 fires every 72 degrees of crank rotation, five times per turn, perfectly evenly. At high revs those pulses merge into a hard, metallic howl that no other layout quite matches: at 8,700 rpm the firing note is above 700 Hz.

TesRev models a 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 with a 7-speed gearbox: idle at 950 rpm, rev limiter at 8,700 rpm. Under full throttle each gear runs up to the limiter, and the gearbox shifts with a short dip in the sound, like a dual-clutch gearbox.

Stock or Performante?

The Italian V10 is the clean version: smooth at idle, a rising howl through the rev range. The Italian V10 Performante adds a freer-flowing titanium exhaust: louder, rougher at low revs, with bangs when you lift off and on downshifts.

In your Tesla, the V10 follows your driving: a gentle drive shifts early and stays calm, a hard acceleration holds each gear longer. Choose Comfort, Normal or Sport in the settings to set where the gearbox shifts.

For an even higher note, try the Formula 1 V10, which revs to 19,000 rpm, or the smoother V12. All the engines are on the engines page.
